Sam has recently been appointed to the NZ Landcare Trust after working for Goodnature Ltd as a technical trapping expert. Sam has an extensive conservation background specialising in large landscape predator control and ecosystem management.

Sam’s background with the Department of Conservation and private contracting has given him a diverse range of skills. When it comes to tackling Takahe, mist netting bats, using acoustic recorders for Kiwi or crawling round in the under story searching for frogs, he’s your guy!

Equally at home designing biodiversity strategies, trapping networks and applying for funding Sam will be able to help you create a catchment plan that meets your aspirations.

Being from the East Coast Sam is an active hunter, fisherman and surfer and spends most of his weekends in the bush or at the beach. He runs a region wide conservation project The Eastern Whio Link aimed at bringing back Blue Duck to our waterways and is also active in the education space.

We are excited to have a Catchment Coordinator operating on the East Coast and look forward to supporting new and established Catchment Groups to achieve their goals.
