Jon has recently returned to the NZ Landcare Trust after a period working as a contractor on the Northland State Highway network. During this period, he was responsible for environmental operations including pest plant control, landscape planting and managing Kauri dieback disease risks associated with road construction.

In returning to the Trust, he has traded in his hard hat, hi-viz and safety boots in favour of a singlet, red bands and stubbies. He particularly enjoys working with people to realise their potential and achieve their ambitions.

Jon’s past projects at the Trust include the Waitangi River Catchment project (2012 to 2015) in the Bay of Islands and the ‘’Go with the Flow’ project (2014 to 2017) covering the Kaipara Harbour catchment.

In both projects he worked collaboratively with farmers and landholders implementing practices that were profitable and beneficial to the community and the environment. This included afforestation for honey production, stream planting and wetland creation, farm planning workshops and biodiversity restoration.
