From milking his first cow and restoring his first farm bike, through to having the first Green Gecko he’d ever seen land on his head, Alastair knew that his career was going to revolve around farming and the environment.

Alastair has developed himself into an environmental jack of many trades over his working career, from providing planning, mapping, freshwater, planting, monitoring and catchment scale advice and support through to chairing community organisations and governance work within the Manawatu-Whanganui Region.

Having worked for NZ Landcare Trust since 2011 and drawing on the experience from his prior work roles in regional council working with farmers as an environmental planner; in Department of Conservation as a Freshwater Technical Support Officer; and in various farming roles both here and across the ditch, enables Alastair to provide a wide range of advice and support to deliver action on the ground.

NZ Landcare Trust is a great fit for Alastair – mixing his enthusiasm for environment, conservation and wildlife with his passion for working with rural communities, community organisations and on farm.

And his favourite quote?

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better - it’s not!” Lorax - Dr Seuss.
