Constructed Wetlands


In April of 2021, a Constructed Wetland Workshop was held at Takaka in Golden Bay. Designed to demonstrate to landowners and support agencies the process of constructing a wetland.
“Building a constructed wetland is not difficult and makes sense.” - Annette Litherland, NZLT.

The workshop was brought together by Annette Litherland, NZ Landcare Trust Regional Coordinator for Nelson/Marlborough, in partnership with Tasman District Council. The 2-day workshop was presented by wetland expert Nathan Burkepile (NZLT) and you can find video coverage of the event and all of Nathan’s presentations available below.
