Mātauranga Māori Facilitator

Mātauranga Māori Facilitator

An opportunity has come up with NZ Landcare Trust to work in the Waipā District on an exciting new project called the Maungatautari to Pirongia Ecological Corridor and we are seeking applications for our new Mātauranga Māori Facilitator role.

The idea candidate must have strong mātauranga Māori knowledge. Project management skills, ecological understanding, facilitation, networking and communication skills would also be preferable.

The Mātauranga Māori Facilitator will work with the local community alongside the Project Coordinator to increase the connectivity between Maungatautari and Pirongia maunga via ecological stepping-stones habitat.

Identifying cultural sites of significance and mātauranga Māori principles to be included in the corridor project with mana whenua consent is the main programme of work. This role will work with mana whenua, land users, industry, local authorities, research providers, businesses, non-government agencies, schools and the local community.

This role will assist in advancing an ecological corridor between the two maunga through the development of a corridor plan, engagement strategy, an integrated weed and animal pest control plan, and a monitoring and citizen science framework to measure connectivity along the ecological corridor.

This is a full-time role (30 hours per week) offering flexibility, a great working environment, full support from a fantastic and innovative team and your chance to really make the mark on New Zealand’s land and water quality for generations to come.

Please forward your applications to Waikato Regional Coordinator and North Island Team Leader Nardene Berry at [email protected] by COB August 27.
