Clover root weevil (CRW) adults feed on clover leaves; however, it is the larval stage that is most damaging. Adults are present all year round but are most abundant in summer. They can fly and actively disperse when clover levels are low, especially in hot, dry summers.
Clover Root Weevil - adults

Presence of CRW can be identified by ‘U’ shaped notches on the edge of leaves. Adults prefer white clover, but will also eat red and Caucasian clover.
The greatest impact is on seedlings, with poor results seen following renovation into CRW infested area. Also loss of clover leads to fews seeds available in the soil seed bank.
