'Waituna Wetland Community Seminar.'

The seminar has been designed to bring together the Waituna Landcare Group, Lake Waihola/Waipori Wetlands Society and Waihora Ellesmere Trust along with the different agencies that support the groups, to discuss issues encountered in managing and protecting wetlands.

It provides an opportunity for each community group to talk about their area, their projects and exchange information. A field trip on Day 2 will offer attendees the chance to look at key areas of the Waituna wetlands and discuss land management practices in the area.

This seminar is part of a larger project on Engaging Communities, managed by the NZ Landcare Trust with funding from the Sustainable Management Fund and the Ministry for the Environment. There is no cost for community group members as accommodation will be in private homes in the Waituna catchment. If each community group could limit the attendees to 10 people that would be most appreciated.

Each community group is asked to prepare in advance a short powerpoint presentation along with a handout relating to their project. Presentations should identify key issues and outline work/activities that are underway.
