Lambert is a Dad.
Lambert is the proud father of two youngsters - a female named Amber and her brother Marty. Todd Hamilton, kiwi ranger for the ‘Whangarei Heads Landcare Forum’ has been keeping a watchful eye on Lambert since finding the him sitting on eggs recently.
Amber hatched first, followed approximately 10 days later by her brother (sexes are most easily differentiated in chicks by the length of their bills). The youngsters will stay close to the natal burrow for a couple of weeks, living off their yolk sac before they head off to make their way in the world.
This is a very exciting breakthrough - the first confirmed breeding of an 'Operation Nest Chick' released kiwi in the Whangarei Heads area.
