26-03-10: Clover Root Weevil Field day Planned for Southland.

Clover Root Weevil has arrived in Southland with populations of this destructive pest  discovered at the Gore A & P Showgrounds, Gore Racecourse and a couple of dairy farms in the district.

An interest group is being coordinated by Janet Gregory , NZ Landcare Trust Southland Regional Coordinator, to share information and gain funding to support the proposed release of a parasitic wasp that will help control the weevil.

A field day is planned for the 13^th April, at 1pm at the Gore A & P Showgrounds. Colin Ferguson from AgResearch, Invermay will talk about the weevil and show farmers what to look for in the clover, followed by discussion on pasture management options.
