Wetland Restoration Handbook

Wetland Restoration: A Handbook for New Zealand Freshwater Systems.

This Foundation for Research Science and Technology funded project centres on bringing together a comprehensive handbook covering all major aspects on restoring freshwater wetlands in New Zealand. Scientists from around the country have developed chapters covering historical research, hydrology, nutrients, plant and animal pest control, native flora and fauna reintroduction, and monitoring. NZ Landcare Trust's key role has been:-

  • translating technical information, making it accessible for the wider community audience.
  • developing a series of case studies to illustrate technical aspects of each chapter.
  • sourcing images and diagrams
  • adding an introductory text on wetland loss, restoration planning and goal setting.

The resource is aimed at community wetland restoration groups, individuals and agency staff.

Available in printed and online versions from March 2010.
