Conference – Green light or light green? The Government’s environmental reforms.

1-2 August 2018, Grand Millennium Hotel, Auckland

The new Government has come to power with an ambitious environmental reform agenda. Significant changes are proposed for the Resource Management Act, urban development, freshwater management and climate change. Conservation funding is to be increased and a billion trees planted. The Kermadec Ocean Sanctuary is to be resolved and a blue whale sanctuary created off Taranaki. And an independent review of the Quota Management System has been promised.

But are the policies up to scratch and will they deliver what is needed for an environment under pressure? EDS’s 2018 conference will put these policies under a focused spotlight. Hear from international experts, ministers, māori, local councils, industry, scientists, lawyers and conservationists. The policy commitments will get a rigorous vetting and help achieve quality outcomes for the environment.
